  • “Raising Lina,” Ztalmy campaign, Heartbeat, 2022. Assigned to write a magazine-style portrait, based on interviews and photographs, of a caregiver to a child with a rare genetic disorder.

  • 2014 Annual Report, Child Center of NY. Developed concept, directed photography, and wrote this impact report for a $40M youth mental health nonprofit in New York City.

  • Romanian grandmother makes cheese, Heifer International, 2013. Original art and text, from interviews and photos, describing the process of cheesemaking to accompany an article about small-scale livestock development.

  • Coffee from plant to cup, Heifer International, 2012. Concept, original art, and text, based on interviews and photos, explaining coffee production in Mexico.

  • The Saints Go Marching In; Washington Post Magazine, 2007. A story I pitched, reported and wrote about the Mormon church—which banned Black members until 1978—proselytizing in African-American neighborhoods. Examined many perspectives on the issue through conversations with Black and white Mormons, scholars, and community members.

  • Wild by Nature, Shaped by Captivity: the Modern Zoo Animal; Washington Post Magazine, 2012. Examined the pros and cons of modern zoos through interviews with experts and several months of reporting at the National Zoo.

  • New York Times parenting blog post, 2014, for the Child Center of NY. Op-ed style response, based on interviews with mental health professionals, to running back Adrian Peterson hitting his son with a switch.
